Eurobike 2022, one of the largest bicycle trade shows in the world, took on a new life this year as it moved to a larger venue in Frankfurt, Germany. Electrek was on site to check out all the latest news and unveilings from the electric bike world.

Baidu unveils Apollo RT6 Level 4 autonomous robotaxi with detachable steering wheel

During its Baidu World 2022 technology conference today, the Chinese technology company unveiled its sixth-generation fully-autonomous vehicle – the Apollo RT6. With a detachable steering wheel, Baidu has created a production-ready EV with Level 4 autonomous driving capability that is expected to join the Apollo Go robotaxi fleet next year.

Ford secured 60 GWh of battery supply to achieve production of 600,000 electric vehicles

Ford announced today that it managed to secure 60 GWh of battery supply in order to achieve an annual production run rate of 600,000 electric vehicles by the end of next year.

The automaker also confirmed a move to iron-phosphate (LFP) cells to help achieve the goal.

EV reckoning comes to Ford as it cuts 8,000 ICE jobs to focus on electrification

Innovation forward does not always come without sacrifice. According to a report earlier today, Ford Motor Company is planning to cut as many as 8,000 jobs, pertaining mostly to positions in the American automaker’s internal combustion division. The layoffs are said to help wean Ford off ICE production and use those funds to further invest in EV development.
